The trip on the Trans-Siberian railway

Introduction

In the summer 2002, we travelled by train through Siberia. We met many nice people there, and with some of them we spent enough time to get their contact information. We thought that these people might be interested in our photographs, since being in the same places at the same time, the pictures could just as well have been shot by them. Moreover, other people we have known for a longer time may also have some interest in our experiences, as might anyone whom we do not yet know but who contemplates a similar trip.

For these reasons, we decided to compile web pages containing many of the photographs and some diary extracts from the trip. Instead of lecturing for hours, we try to refer our friends to the site: this way, those who really are interested can look at all the pictures in detail, and the majority that could not care less but still thinks it's polite to ask can more or less ignore them.

The route has been split in four major parts here according to the overnight train trips: the first part is China, which is followed by Mongolia and finally by two areas in Russia separated from each other by three nights in the train. You can browse through the different parts using the menu on the left.

Unfortunately the most interesting situations to be photographed are typically such where it is not appropriate to take pictures. Not that we would have been in any, but isn't it a good reason for having only dull pictures from all the places haunted just by tourists?
