Floor welding

progress report, part 5

The last set of pictures from the footwell replacement. The gray stuff it was painted with is Zinc 182 paint. It should prevent it rusting. I don't know how good it is, but I am hopefull. The gray matter all over the weld is a polyeurethane (spelling, anyone?) goo: My mini will not have leaking floors! Its very hard to weld all the little pinholes in the weld, so I didn't want to take chances. It would probably be much neater if I ground the weld a bit more, but its pretty enough to go under the carpet.

After that, it got a paint of balack primeer. Probably not necessary, but wanted to keep the floor as uniformly black as possible. Otherwise there would have been yellow, white, black, and gray patches on it. Now there is mostly black, with a bit of yellow on the tunnel, and just a tad of gray sticking through here and there.

The underneath got a similar treatment. At the moment only in the Zinc paint. I will be putting anti-chip paste on that next.
