Verto Clutch Adjustment

Subject: How to adjust VERTO CLUTCH?

I have just fitted a verto assembly and now my clutch slips slightly (everything new) there's no adjustment screw for the clutch arm and while fitting and checking the arm it seems to be under constant pressure from the plunger in the slave cylinder (maybe because of it's upside down position?). I also noticed there's no provision for a return spring. How do I adjust for end play and a little free movement before the throwout bearing engages the pressure plate. Thanks in advance.

There is no adjustment on the verto for throwout like the Borg+Beck had. It is supposed to be self adjusting. The only thing I can suggets is checking the stop plunger, as follows.

  1. Unscrew the stop plunger to the limit of its thread,
  2. Pull the release lever away from the cover untill you feel the release bearing contact the thrust sleeve.
  3. Screw the plunger in untill you get a clearence of 6.5mm between the stop and the clutch cover,
  4. and tighten the lock nut.
If you have already done this there is somthing else wrong.
