How can you tell if it [master cylinder] has gone?... Ok a rough and ready method. Put on the handbrake (to put the rear shoes hard on teh drums) pump the pedal to make sure the rear cylinders have taken pu the slack. Give it a couple of seconds, then place slight pressure on the brake pedal. If it slowly sinks all the way to the floor, with the feeling of putting your foot in a jar of honey or something like that, then it is a good bet that the master cylinder is gone. John McKenzie |
