Broken crank. Oops. Cheers to Tom Parker who sacrificed his engine to bring you this pic! |
 |
Broken crank again. This one from Christiaan. A crankshaft from his friend's 1100 which suffered oil pressure loss, and seized the engine. If the picture is not clear enough, the big-end bearings on cyl.3 are now welded onto the crank journal. |

Ripped subframe, from Christiaan. It was on a friend's Mini that he bought. This apparently happened while running over a large rock. Other damage included RH front being ripped, and the RH subframemount rubber was a gonner too.

Cylinder head after a head gasket failure (one of many possible). You can see how gases were blowing past the gasket. |
 |
A typical head gasket failure when it blows between cylinders 2 and 3. Usually this can be traced by rough (VERY) running, and lack of compression of the above mentioned cylinders. |

Worn diff pin, courtesy of Tom Parker. Apparently this happened during a race |

This is a bent front pivot pin. Courtesy of Piers Cos. |

Before&After of tiebars. These are heavy-duty tiebars, but the end is machined with a step, instead of a gradual slope, and they snapped. Courtesy of Tom Parker. |

It would really be funny if Bendix made these rods... Courtesy of Tom Parker. |

Broken differential planet gears. Its not all that hard to tell they are broken, is it? Courtesy of Tom Parker. |

Ever seen a valve drop out of the head, flip around and, jam into the piston? Well, here it is. Courtesy of Tom Parker. |
