Advanced Image Operations

3. Advanced operations

Here is a just a few not-so-basic image operations:

Warping

Warping is a geometric transformation of an image from one coordinate system to another one. It can be used for image rotation, scaling, making changes to image or producing a series of slowly changing images from a single image. Here is our warping JAVA-applet.

Morphing makes a series of images from two images. In this image series one image is slowly changed or merged to the other image, like many effects in the movie Terminator 2.

    Colorkeying

Areas of identical colors are separated from an image and these areas are superimposed with something else, like drawing, texture or an image. The most familiar use of colorkeying is found in TV weather forecasting : replacing a blue background screen with a picture of a weather map with the help of a computer. It has, it is and it will be used in a countless number of special effects in the film industry.
